Irish Cap Badges

Our Irish clan crest collection—more accurately referred to as our "sept" range—features the distinctive crests of over 60 historic Irish families. These designs celebrate the rich heritage and deep-rooted traditions of Irish ancestry. St Kilda's exclusive range of Irish crests was created by renowned heraldic artist Romilly Squire, who served for many years as a consultant to the Chief Herald of Ireland.

While it would have been possible to reproduce the full coat of arms for each family, Romilly believed that this approach was not suitable for small-scale use, such as badges or other wearable emblems. In keeping with the core principles of heraldry—clarity, identity, and symbolism—he focused on the family crest alone to convey a more elegant and meaningful representation.

Each crest is beautifully set within a traditional Claddagh circlet, symbolizing love, loyalty, and friendship, and paired with the Irish-Gaelic version of the sept name to further honor cultural authenticity. The designs are based on historic examples from the archives of the Irish Office of Arms, and follow the documentation established by noted Irish genealogist Edward MacLysaght. This range offers a refined and meaningful way to celebrate your Irish roots with pride and distinction.
