The Book of Kells is an illuminated manuscript created by monks around 800 AD. Written in Latin, it exemplifies Insular art—a unique style combining Christian iconography with Celtic motifs. Likely produced in the monastery of Iona and later housed at Kells Abbey, it survived Viking raids and is now preserved at Trinity College Dublin. The manuscript is renowned for its artistic mastery, including iconic pages like the Chi Rho monogram, making it one of the greatest treasures of medieval Christianity.
