Pipercraft Mary Queen of Scots Figurine

Mary became Queen of Scots when only a few weeks old in 1452, on the sudden death of her father James V. For her safety she was sent to France, and eventually married to the dauphin, becoming briefly Queen of France, before his sudden death in 1560. She returned to Scotland in 1561, and ruled successfully for a number of years, despite being Catholic in a now Protestant country. Things fell apart for her after her marriage to the hopeless Lord Darnley and after the birth of their son, the future James VI (and I of England), Darnley was assassinated and Mary was kidnapped by the brutish Earl of Bothwell. In captivity she fell in love with Bothwell and married him, but her disgruntled nobles hated him to such an extent, and no longer trusted her, that they rebelled and she was forced to flee to England. Baby James was placed on the Scottish throne. Mary languished in English captivity, Queen Elizabeth there not knowing what to do with her. After some ill-judged plotting Mary was executed in 1587. 

Stands 7.7cm tall and is cast from high quality 100% lead-free pewter. Presented on a base of polished wood, using off-cuts from our bagpipe workshops.
