We are delighted to announce the addition of a distinguished new kindred to our range: Irving of Bonshaw. Well, new in the sense that while the crest is new to our collection, the Irving family’s proud heritage stretches far back to the twelfth century, with a rich history rooted in the Scottish Borders.
The late Romilly Squire, a renowned heraldic artist, created an original design for us many years ago in our traditional house style for the Clan Encyclopaedia. However, it wasn’t until recently—thanks to the enthusiasm and encouragement of the clan chief, Rupert Irving of Bonshaw—that we finally brought this artwork into full production. Working closely with the chief, we made subtle refinements to Romilly’s design, most notably giving greater prominence to the iconic gauntleted fist, while carefully preserving the seven distinctive holly leaves that are central to the crest’s identity.
The result is a striking and faithful representation of the Irving of Bonshaw crest, capturing both historical authenticity and visual impact. We’re extremely pleased with how it has turned out, and we believe the Irving kindred will be equally proud to see it featured.
The Irving of Bonshaw crest is now available across most of our range of clan crest products, ready to be worn, displayed, and celebrated. Have a look here at the range.
