The piper is one of the most enduring and iconic symbols of Scotland, closely tied to the cultural identity of the Highlands and the proud traditions of clan life. The Great Highland Bagpipes, known for their powerful and stirring sound, evolved from early pan-European medieval pipe sets to become the most prominent and resonant instrument of their kind. Historical records mention warpipes being played at the Battle of North Inch in 1396, and by the late 1500s, a distinct Highland form of bagpipe had emerged.
This cap badge features a finely detailed marching piper, resplendent in full Number One dress — including the traditional kilt, doublet, piper’s plaid, and Glengarry bonnet. It captures the pride, pageantry, and heritage of the Highland piping tradition in a stunning miniature form.
Expertly crafted from premium-quality, 1000% lead-free pewter, each badge is hand cast and hand finished by our skilled craftsmen in our Glasgow, Scotland workshop. This dedication to traditional craftsmanship ensures a durable and beautiful piece to treasure.
Worn on the Glengarry or Balmoral bonnet, traditionally on the left-hand side atop the rosette, this badge also makes a striking brooch. Measuring approximately 5cm by 6cm, it's a perfect tribute to Scotland’s musical soul.
