This beautifully crafted cap badge features the iconic Irish Harp, encircled by a traditional Claddagh motif—two powerful symbols deeply rooted in Gaelic culture and identity. The Irish Harp, or Cláirseach, is one of the oldest instruments in Europe and has long symbolised the soul, pride, and poetic spirit of the Irish people. A revered emblem across the Gaelic and Brythonic worlds, the harp was once the courtly instrument of choice among chiefs and nobles in Ireland and Highland Scotland, long before the rise of the bagpipes in the Middle Ages. It also holds symbolic importance in Wales and Brittany, making it a unifying symbol of Celtic heritage.
Surrounding the harp is the Claddagh motif, composed of hands for friendship, a heart for love, and a crown for loyalty. This timeless design speaks to the values held dear by Irish communities across generations and the world.
Each cap badge is hand cast in premium pewter and carefully hand finished by our skilled craftsmen in our Glasgow workshop. It is traditionally worn on the Glengarry or Balmoral bonnet, on the left-hand side atop the rosette.
With a 5cm diameter, this badge is a striking and meaningful tribute to Irish history and symbolism.
