This elegant cap badge features the iconic Irish Shamrock, beautifully framed within a traditional Claddagh motif—two of the most enduring symbols of Irish culture and heritage. The shamrock, a three-leafed plant, is famously associated with St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. According to legend, St. Patrick used the shamrock to illustrate the concept of the Holy Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—when introducing Christianity to the Irish people. Over time, the shamrock has grown to represent Ireland itself, symbolising good luck, renewal, and national pride.
Encircling the shamrock is the traditional Claddagh motif, composed of two hands holding a heart topped by a crown. Each element carries deep meaning: the hands represent friendship, the heart stands for love, and the crown signifies loyalty. Together, these symbols evoke the values most cherished in Irish tradition and community life.
Crafted from premium quality pewter, each badge is hand cast and meticulously hand finished by our skilled craftsmen at our Glasgow workshop. Designed to be worn on a Glengarry or Balmoral bonnet, it is positioned on the left-hand side, resting atop the rosette.
Measuring 5cm in diameter, this badge is a meaningful emblem of Irish identity, spirit, and tradition.
