A St Andrew or 'Wee Jimmy' Cap Badge.
St. Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, known for his deep faith and humble nature. As an apostle, he was crucified on an X-shaped cross, which he chose, believing he was unworthy of being executed in the same manner as Jesus. According to legend, the relics of St. Andrew were collected by St. Rule (or Regulus) and brought to Scotland, where they were placed in the religious hub now known as St Andrews.
A significant event in Scottish history occurred in 832 AD, when King Oengus II led a combined Scottish and Pictish army to victory over the English. Prior to the battle, a white cross was seen in the sky, which was taken as a divine sign of St. Andrew’s intervention in their triumph. This event is said to have marked the origin of the Scottish flag, the Saltire, and solidified St. Andrew's place as the patron saint of Scotland.
To honour this rich history, we offer a premium-quality, hand-finished pewter cap badge, meticulously hand-cast by our expert craftsmen in our Glasgow workshop. This cap badge, which is worn on the left-hand side of the Glengarry or Balmoral bonnet, atop the rosette, is a symbol of Scottish pride and heritage. The size is 5cm by 6cm.
