This kilt pin is a miniature replica of the sword that is said to have belonged to no less than William Wallace, the great Scottish freedom fighter, as it can be seen today at the Wallace Monument. This is a Premium quality hand finished pewter kilt pin, finished in antique silver.

After William Wallace’s execution by the English in 1305, his sword is said to have been given to the keeper of Dumbarton Castle, the great fortress on the Clyde. There it remained until 1888, when it was transferred to the Wallace Monument at the Abbey Craig near Stirling, where it can still be seen to this day. Such was the high symbolic value placed on the sword, that over the centuries it has been lovingly preserved, particularly by James IV in 1505, who paid to have it re-hilted and decorated with a new scabbard. The sword is an impressive 5’4” tall.

The kilt pin is worn on the front of a kilt to prevent it lifting. However, this may be worn as a large statement brooch as well.

Cast and finished at our workshop in Glasgow, Scotland, by our highly trained craftsmen.

Size 10.2cm long.
