Skunk Fur Dress Sporran

Don't worry, there's no odour!  

Skunk fur is chosen for sporrans because of its striking natural appearance, historical precedent, and practical qualities. Its bold black-and-white striping creates strong visual contrast and natural symmetry, giving a sporran dramatic presence without the need for dye. The long, glossy hair adds movement and elegance, particularly suited to full-dress or hunting styles.

Although sometimes considered unusual today, skunk has been used in Highland dress since the Victorian era, especially in military and sporting contexts. Imported from North America, it became popular for full-mask and tasselled sporrans, giving it well-established traditional credibility.

In addition to its visual appeal, skunk fur is durable and holds its sheen well with proper care. Each pelt has a slightly different stripe pattern, ensuring that every sporran made from it is distinctive while remaining rooted in tradition.

Please note that every sporran will vary, given the sizes and proportions of the pelt. The couple of examples given here will give you a good idea though. 

Made in our workshop in Glasgow by highly trained craftsmen, using the finest materials. This sporran can be worn with a highland outfit or with a pipe band uniform.

The chrome finish option gives a highly polished and shiny effect, while antique silver (shown) is more matte in appearance.
